Organization

There are ACW branches in many parishes across Canada. Each Diocese has a President and Board. Each eccleastical province has a representative who sits on the National Executive Committee, with the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. A national presidents conference is held annually, at different locations across the country.

Within the Diocese of New Westminster, A.C.W. branches are organized into three areas. Each Area has a coordinator who sits on the Board, keeping contact with branches, and helping to arrange the yearly Area meeting..

What Diocesan A.C.W. Board Members do:

  • President: (ACW@vancouver.anglican.ca)
Takes the chair at all Board and General meetings.
Compiles the agenda for these meetings.
Represents the A.C.W. in the Diocese and, by invitation, to other denominations and community groups.
Attends annual President's/Co-ordinators Conference, usually held in the fall.
  • Vice President:
Assists the President as requested, and deputises as necessary.
    Also assists Area Convenors.
  • Recording Secretary:
Prepares and reads minutes at all meetings.
Circulates minutes promptly to all board members.
  • Corresponding Secretary
Receives and writes all correspondence as directed by the Board
Reads incoming and outgoing correspondence at Board meetings.
Keeps a log of all mail received and sent.
  • Treasurer:

Prepares a financial statement for each meeting.

In consultation with the President and other Board members, prepares the Annual Budget for the following year, and presents it to the AGM.
  • Area Convenor:
Acts as liaison between the Board and her area.
Makes arrangements for General /Area meetings in consultation with parish groups.

These positions are an introduction to the Board, a good way for new members to the Board to learn where their skills are needed. It is hoped that after one year Officers at Large will be able to take other positions on the Board.

ACW - Introduction

The Anglican Church Women (A.C.W.) was formed

  • To unite women in fellowship of worship, study and stewardship which will deepen and strengthen their own spiritual lives and which will lead them into Christian service everywhere.
  • To arouse and sustain an informed interest in the total mission of the church.

The A.C.W. is open to all women of the Anglican Church.

There are 36 branches of the A.C.W. in 33 parishes in the Diocese of New Westminster.

Anglican Church Women are involved in many activities: collecting "freebies" for school projects, gathering offerings for many causes, and making up A.C.W. bales of clothing for parishes in the Yukon.

The work of Anglican Church Women in the diocese is centred at our new ACW location, 7012 Unit B, Merritt Avenue, Burnaby, V5G 4R6, 604.876.3720. We invite Anglican women to our events.
