The Anglican Church Women

Anglican Church Women (ACW) is a national fellowship of women in the Anglican Church of Canada, gathered together in Christian service to support and promote the total mission of the church through prayer, work and stewardship.  

The ACW in the Diocese of New Westminster is a fellowship of women across the diocese who come together to support the local, national and global church through a number of iniatives big and small. 

Our Mission

In the Diocese of New Westminster, the ACW undertakes several initiatives to support the church in the north, women in need, and marginalized women, men and youth trying to change their lives. The ACW also supports Mission to Seafarers, and supports the formation of candidates to ordained ministry. 

The ACW has a multiuse space in Surrey, which allows us to gather items like toiletries and used clothing which are part of our activites to support some of the groups listed above. 

What We Do

  • Financial contributions to support Anglican Chaplaincy at Vancouver General Hospital 
  • Administer a bursary for local seminarians at VST 
  • Provide clothing and other items to Mission to Seafarers for their ministry 
  • Provide support to various organizations, including Alongside Hope, Camp Artaban, Covenant House, BC/Alberta Guide Dogs, and more.
  • Supplied winter clothing to children in the Territory of the People and Yukon.
  • Funded school meals program in a Yukon school.
  • Supported Alongside Hope (formerly PWRDF) 
National and Provincial Involvement:
  • ACW branches are present in parishes across Canada.
  • Each diocese has a President and Board.
  • Representatives from each ecclesiastical province sit on the National Executive Committee along with the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.
  • An annual national presidents conference is held at different locations in the country

Organizational Structure:
The AWC in this diocese is divided into three regions, each with a coordinator on the Board. Coordinators maintain branch connections and facilitate annual area meetings.
