Richmond Homeless Connect
Making a Difference with a Cast of Hundreds
October 23rd there was a phenomenal gathering at St. Alban, Richmond. The project was called ‘Richmond Homeless Connect: Making a Difference and there was a cast of hundreds. Richmond Faith Communities organized a day where Health Care Providers, Community Groups, Business and Social Service Agencies and churches came together to provide a day of service for individuals experiencing homelessness.

There were haircuts provided by students of the Hair Design Apprenticeship Program at Hugh Boyd Secondary School, dental resources by local dentists, a needle exchange, flu shots, foot massage and reflexology, employment services, outreach services, addiction services, medical care, mental health service, youth services, bike repair, veterinarian services, lunch, hygiene kits, eye glass repairs, clothing, income assistance, etc. – and a great rock band that played during the day (see photo on left of Bruce Marshall and the Side Effects Band). It was very successful, with many clients and friends (and politicians!). And of course - LUNCH!
Look for photos and more details in the December 2009 issue of TOPIC.
