Created for Connection: Attachment Theory In Action in our Lives

Our Guest: Yolanda von Hockauf

In this clergy day, Yolanda von Hockauf, M.Ed., RMFT, will lead us all in an exploration of what attachment theory is, what our own attachment styles might be and how these attachment styles may be influencing how we function as family members, friends and leaders in parishes.

Yolanda is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Trainer in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). In 2005 she co-founded the Vancouver Couple & Family Institute (home of the Centre for EFT Training), a centre for therapy and professional training that has gained a reputation of excellence in the community among physicians, clergy, other clinicians, and the general public.

EFT is a model of therapy that is based on attachment theory and is validated by numerous outcome studies. It applies to relationships as experienced by individuals, couples, families, and in groups. Yolanda is passionate about helping people understand their own relationship styles, and learn how to form stronger, more secure connections. She brings a clarity and warmth as well as humour to her presentations.

Yolanda has been involved in the Anglican Church since she first arrived in Vancouver in 1981. She has volunteered in numerous roles over the years, most recently as a Parish Council member and People’s Warden at St. David’s.
