Shades of Blue/Shades of Loss is a one-day event focused on the concepts of grieving and loss.

Grieving is a normal and necessary part of a healthy existence.  Grieving can result from a significant loss, a dramatic change in circumstances, a personal issue or feelings for another.  Grief can also arise simply from making the choice of one thing over another.  This event will help participants to explore grief through visual arts, book readings, spoken word, music, dance and singing.  Its aim is to help normalize the process, giving people permission to explore and feel their grief and hopefully, move through this to endurance, acceptance and even hope.

The event will kick off with an afternoon (1pm to 5pm)  of information, music and interactive sessions that include workshops (such as processing grief through movement, journaling and poetry as well as a session on grieving for men); an art exhibit; and grief stations (such as the anger/art room).   Admission to the workshops is by donation.

In the evening the Shades of Blue/Shades of Loss performance will include music, singing, dancing, spoken word and guest speakers. Volunteer counsellors will be on hand throughout the day and evening.

The performance starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $30 and you can find more information on the Marcus Mosely Chorale website, or click this link to go directly to the Brown Paper Tickets event post. You may also purchase tickets by calling the ticket hotline at 604 770-1088 or on the day at the door.
