On Saturday, June 9, the Westminster Archdeaconry hosted a "Basic First Aid" training day.

30:2 compressions to ventilation is the new standard for basic CPR and this was the practice of the members from the Archdeaconry of Westminster who gathered on a cool Saturday morning at St. Mary the Virgin in Sapperton.

The Rev. Arvin Amayag and Rector’s Warden Doreen McQueen hosted the 14 members of the First Aid class for the day of lectures and practice in basic first Aid techniques. Erik Spence was our trainer for the day and he is from the North Shore/Sea to Sky St John Ambulance team.

Later in the day the practices moved to include infant and children CPR as well as the use of AED machines. We couldn’t leave without tying a few slings and patching a few “amputations” and so now we’re all ready for any emergency… starting with “Call 911”!!
