A diocesan heraldic badge may contain elements of the Coat of Arms, pictured here

The Diocesan Communications and Marketing Committee has decided to ask the Chief Herald of Canada to design a diocesan badge that can be used as a unifying logo on many diocesan materials and the website.

Chief Herald Robert D. Watt, a member of the Christ Church Cathedral chapter, is in charge of Canadian heraldry (coats of arms) under powers held by the Governor General. He said last month his office is willing to design the badge, basing it on the diocesan coat of arms, for nominal fees.

The contest, announced in January, attracted only three entries, but it did gain the Chief Herald’s attention.
