The folks at St. George’s Maple Ridge, “experienced” Bethlehem” with a variety of activities on the evening of December 19. The evening began with an outdoor live nativity including Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in a manger with a host of animals big and small, including a horse and a newborn calf. Inside the beautifully decorated narthex, people were warmly welcomed by a group of carolers. The children’s nativity pageant that evening included more that thirty children participating in the traditional roles and/or singing in a choir. The pageant was interactive as the congregation joined in on the second verse of each carol. The evening concluded with hot chocolate and sweets from the “Inn,” and with the children decorating gingerbread cookies kindly provided by the ACW. Everyone had a wonderful evening and a truly special Christmas experience.
