St. John's Anglican Church in Shamattawa First Nation in northern Manitoba burned to the ground April 18, 2018. The furnace was not working properly and it caught fire and we could not save it.

The community is devastated, but ready to rebuild from the ashes.

The Church is very important to the community -- everyone is baptized, married and buried there.

The community is committed to raising money to purchase the building materials to be shipped in on the winter road next winter. Then it can be rebuilt the following summer.

There have been many requests into the national church from across Canada asking how people can help.
