The Rev. Ray Murrin, an honoury associate priest at St. Christopher's, West Vancouver, died Dec. 28 in North Vancouver after a year of illness. He was 74. He was known throughout the diocese for his warmth, humour, and hugs.

His ministry spanned Canada. His roots were in Lark Harbour, Bay of Islands, Newfoundland, and he began adult ministry with the Church Army in Newfoundland before he was ordained to the priesthood, then moved to Qu’Appelle Diocese in Saskatchewan.
When he and his wife Sadie, answered the call to British Columbia in 1969, he became rector of St. Mary’s Sapperton, in New Westminster.

After several years, Father Ray moved to St. John’s North Vancouver, and led the parish in rebuilding the church after it was destroyed by fire. He also served as Regional Dean of Westminster Deanery in 1972.
Because of poor health, he took early retirement and became the Honourary Assistant at St. Christopher’s West Vancouver, where the service celebrating his life was held on January 5.
