Bishop Michael Ingham examines the Rev. Emilie Smith (Jubilee Cluster) during her ordination as a priest priest. Kneeling were Marie Brown (St. Augustine), David Koe (St. Stephen, Burnaby) and Alisdair Smith (Christ Church Cathedral) who were ordained during the same ceremony at Christ Chruch Cathedral as deacons on June 20.

The Rev. Paul Strudwick is doing his best to keep the Parish of St. Catherine, Port Coquitlam in the public eye, complete with services in the local park (after being booted out of the bandshell). Local media ignored that occurence, but what did make the local papers was his engagement to Kathleen (Kate) McEldowney in the parish on August 10.

The Synod Office said goodbye to Marilyn Bryce (accounts payable/payroll administrator) on July 30 and were saddened to lose a bright, capable and faithful member of the staff. She was a member of St. David's, Tsawwassen. She will be moving with her husband Eckardt to Munich, Germany. Replacing her is Jenny Norris, who can also be reached for payroll inquiries at 604 684-6306, extension 213.

New rectors:

The Bishop has appointed the Rev. Jeremy Clark-King as rector of St. Martin's, North Vancouver. Jeremy is currently serving in the Diocese of Newcastle in Wales. Jeremy and his wife (the Rev. Ellen Clark-King) are planning to arrive in Vancouver in the middle of January and will begin the ministry at St. Martin's on February 1 of next year.

At the request of the wardens and canonical committee of the parish, Bishop Michael Ingham has appointed the Rev. John Oakes rector of Trinity Church, Vancouver, effective September 1, which will also be the date of his induction. Oakes has been serving as priest-in-charge.

The Rev. Marcus Dünzkofer was inducted at St. Paul's, Vancouver on Tuesday, June 29. The guest preacher was his former rector in California, the Rev. Canon Jane P. Henderson.

The Bishop has appointed the Rev. William V. Derby, Rector of St. Michael and All Angels, Cuernavaca, Mission San Pablo _ Iglesia Anglicanade de Mexico as an interim priest at St. James, Vancouver, effective August 15. Prior to Mexico, Derby served parishes in the Diocese of Montreal.

The Rev. Felix Orji of St. John's, Shaughnessy, has accepted an appointment in the Diocese of Rio Grande, New Mexico. He recently finished a term on the Faith, Worship and Ministry Committee of the Anglican Church of Canada.

The Rev. Sheila Flynn, previously Rector of St. Bartholomew's, Gibsons, until recently on medical leave, is in a new posting in the Diocese of British Columbia at the Parish of the Pender and Saturna Islands. We wish Sheila and John godspeed as they engage in a new ministry and diocese.

The Rev. John Shozawa, retired priest of this diocese will be leaving for a chaplaincy assignment in Koyto, Japan at the end of September. He has a piano he wants to donate to a church.
