Bishop Michael Ingham has appointed the Rev. Canon Gertrude P. Lebans as Rector of St. Laurence, Coquitlam effective May 1. Trudy is known as an author, poet, parish priest and educator (she was the Principal of the Centre for Christian Studies, Toronto), and comes from the Diocese of Niagara. The Rev. Canon Bern Barrett continues as priest-in-charge until her arrival.

Wendy Harris of St. Mary's Kerrisdale last month attended her last Diocesan Council meeting as Legal Assessor - one of the diocese's three legal officers - and received a round of applause for her four years of service. She had often provided the bishop and diocese advice in her specialty in human resources law.

Two inductions in a row and two more this month: The Rev. Dale Yardy, former assistant at St. Paul's, Vancouver, became rector of St. John's, Sardis on Tuesday, February 1. The next day the bishop installed the Rev. Jeremy Clark-King as rector of St. Martin's, North Vancouver. Beginning in March, the Rev. Michael Batten begins three years at St. David's, Vancouver. He has been at St. Francis-in-the-Wood, West Vancouver, where the Rev. Angus Stuart takes over.

The Rev. Jeremy Clark-King, left, is greeted at his induction service as rector of St. Martin's, North Vancouver, by the Rev. Sarah Tweedale, regional dean for the area. Clark-King and his wife Ellen (also a priest) came from the Diocese of Newcastle in England. He follows the Rev. Don Willis, who had been priest-in-charge since early 2003. (Barbara Struthers photo)

The Rev. Warren Deacon has resigned his post as rector of Christ the Redeemer, Surrey, in December. He continues as a priest of the diocese on medical leave. The Rev. Don Grayston announced to the parish of St. Oswald, Port Kells, that he will no longer be their priest-in-charge (or "vicar" as he prefers) after May 1.
