On Friday, November 25th from 2-3pm the Scotia Bank at the corner of West Georgia and Seymour proudly displayed one of the oldest trophies in North American sports, the Grey Cup.
The cup was transported to the site by luxury minivan a few minutes after 2pm and was unloaded by white gloved attendants.
Waiting in line to have their picture taken with the cup were the Executive Archdeacon of the Diocese, the Venerable Ronald Harrison and diocesan Business Administrator, Rob Dickson.
Rob, a lifelong football fan had recently paid a visit to the BC Lion's merchandise vendors and had purchased, a toque, scarf and jacket in honour of the Lion's participation as the home team playing at home the 99th Grey Cup game.
And on Sunday, November 27th, Advent I of 2011, the BC Lions kept the Grey Cup in Vancouver, defeating the Winnipeg Bluebombers 34-23!
In the top photo we see Ron and Rob waiting in line and below Ron and Rob pose with the trophy and with former BC Lions lineman and Grey Cup champion Bobby Singh.
