The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) will host its Northen National Event in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, June 28th to July 1st.
Canada's North has the highest ration of residential school survivors per capita. Until the mid-1990's Aboriginal children across the North were still being taken from their homes and sent to residential schools away from their families.
This event is an opportunity for everyone to learn more about residential schools, to meet survivors and celebrate Aboriginal culture.
Our Primate, Archbishop Fred Hiltz, and National Indigenous Anglican Bishop, Mark Macdonald invite you to reflect with them on what reconciliation means to them -

The whole Church is invited to pray for the TRC Northern National Event – that God’s Spirit will assist us all on the journey of healing and reconciliation in ways more than we can ask or imagine. We especially lift up Diocese of the Arctic Bishop Andrew Atagotaaluk as he ministers to family and community members in Salluit, a northern Inuit community in Quebec, where they are mourning the recent and tragic loss of three men.
Creator God, from you every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. You have rooted and grounded us in your covenant love, and empowered us by your Spirit to speak the truth in love, and to walk in your way towards justice and wholeness.
Mercifully grant that your people, journeying together in partnership, may be strengthened and guided to help one another to grow into the full stature of Christ, who is our light and our life.
Amen.

The Northern National Event is free and open to everyone.
