Solemn Evensong and Benediction

Solemn Evensong & Benediction on Sunday, May 25, at 4:00 pm will feature the Canadian premiere of Howard Helvey’s ravishing Magnificat & Nunc dimittis in B flat. Organist & Choirmaster Gerald Harder has made no attempt to hide from the choir the fact that the musical selections for this, his last St. James' Evensong & Benediction, are a curation of his absolutely favourite choral gems. Among them: "I sat down under his shadow" (Edward Bairstow); "Evening hymn" (Balfour Gardiner); "O sacrum convivium" (Thomas Tallis); and the "Preces & Responses" of Matthew Martin, the latter a Vancouver premiere. Not to be missed!
