Sunday, January 22, Epiphany III was 'Sorrento Sunday' at Christ Church Cathedral. Sorrento Centre's Executive Director, the Rev. Michael Shapcott came to Vancouver to speak to the parish of Christ Church Cathedral about the mission of Sorrento Centre, and to promote upcoming events and program highlights for 2023.

The Cathedral’s representative to Sorrento Centre, Jane Dittrich, ODNW and the Rev. Shapcott met last July in Sorrento to plant the seed for him to come to the Cathedral. He preached at the 8am Service of Holy Communion, led a Forty Minute Forum on Sorrento Centre, preached at the 10:30 Celebration of the Eucharist, and was present during coffee hour to chat with people about the Centre.

(An archived video on YouTube of the 10:30 service is available on this post, the Rev. Shapcott's sermon begins at the 29 minute mark.)

2023 is Sorrento Centre’s 60th Anniversary year, and the theme for this diamond celebration year is ‘Homecoming’. July 9-15th will be ‘Cathedral Week’ @ the Centre. Archbishop Lynne McNaughton of the Diocese of Kootenay and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia and Yukon will be teaching a course that week titled “Clothed in God: Christian Mystics”. Several Christ Church Cathedral clergy and staff will be present assisting with worship, planning gatherings and enjoying time with all at Sorrento Centre!

Have a look at the website for information and registration for the summer programming week and to learn about the other courses, events and programs.
