On Wednesday, October 27, Bishop John Stephens received a letter from board chair, Barbara Spitz with a request that he circulate information about the need for staff at St. Michael's Centre.

St. Michael's Centre is a multidenominational care facility supported by Anglican, Roman Catholic and United Churches.

Here is the text of the letter:

Dear Bishop John,

I am writing to you today to make a request.  As you undoubtedly know, many sectors in our society are suffering from staffing shortages.  This is particularly true in healthcare/seniors’ care.  At St. Michael’s this has reached a crisis where we need RNs, LPNs and RCAs so we can continue to provide excellent care.

We are all reaching out to our stakeholders and networks and asking if they know any competent healthcare professionals, who are licensed in BC, looking for part-time or fulltime employment – even perhaps a recent retiree who would consider returning to the workforce temporarily.

I will also be writing to the Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver and the United Church of Canada with the same request.

If you or your colleagues can think of anyone, please have them contact our Executive Assistant, Daisy Jeys, or further information.

I hope you are keeping well as we slowly return to “normal”.

And, please keep St. Michael’s in your prayers.

Sincerely,

Barbara Spitz, Chair

St. Michael’s Centre

Bishop John asks that you share this information and get the word out about the need for more staff for this vital care facility.
