  • Would you enjoy working and consulting with Anglicans across the church?
  • Do you have skills in planning, facilitation, communications, writing, or project management?
  • Are you a team player who likes helping build convergence across a wide range of views?
  • If so, this might be the volunteer opportunity you’ve been looking for!

Since the fall of 2019, the Strategic Planning Working Group has been hard at work responding to General Synod’s call for a new vision, mission and priorities for the national office of the Anglican Church of Canada.  In spite of the pandemic, that work has continued, and resulted, among other things, in the formulation of five transformational aspirations for the church, based on wide and deep listening to Anglicans across the country.

Now, as we look towards General Assembly in the summer of 2023, SPWG is moving into the next phase of its activities.  These include:

creating increased awareness and understanding of the aspirations across the church;building “umbrellas” and “bridges” between national activities and what is going on locally;undertaking joint projects with selected dioceses; andcoming alongside national staff departments, coordinating committees and task forces, to enhance mutual efforts towards common goals.

To achieve all this in the next twelve months, the SPWG is revitalizing and expanding its membership. The group meets virtually for ninety minutes every other Monday; members have specific assignments between meetings. There is the possibility of some travel.

If you feel called to serve the national church, and would like an up-close taste of what is going on across our church at this transitional time, we would love to hear from you!  We are particularly seeking younger Anglicans, and those who are representative of the full range of the diversity of the Canadian population.
