St. Bart’s in ecumenical Easter pageant

In a ground-breaking, earth-shattering and precedent-setting example of peaceful amity that puts the Sunshine Coast in the vanguard of trends, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Gibsons has joined with St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church to present an Easter Pageant at St. Bart’s on Palm Sunday at 7 p.m.

The production features a cast of more than 20 and are derived from both congregations. The pageant, a play consisting of 11 descriptive scenes, is a gift from both churches to the community.

In the fall, St. Bart’s hosted joint services with the Lutheran community. In the spring St. Bart’s congregation travels to Davis Bay, just outside of Sechelt, to join services at Living Faith Lutheran Church.

St. Clement’s fundraising brings money for basement

St. Clements has been engaged in on-going fundraising projects to renovate an aging basement.

One project asked parishioners to sponsor as many square feet of the basement floor as possible. Each square cost $10 for which you could get a tax receipt. A large poster gradually filled up with names.

The second project, a talent auction, was held

last St.
Clement’s Day Dinner. Members of the congregation offered a tremendous range of items for auction, from babysitting to gardening; decorating to sailboat trips; a week in Kelowna; dinner for six; and a host of items such as shortbread, cakes, gift vouchers from leading stores, and many more.

In just a few months over $10,000 was raised and in the process our Christian community grew stronger as we pulled together with a common goal.
