Deacons pose on the porch of Christ Church Cathedral with Dean Peter Elliott
Deacons, postulants and others interested in the diaconate gathered in Vancouver last summer for their annual meeting of the Association of Anglican Deacons in Canada.

The group met at the Carey Hall Centre on the University of BC campus. Among the speakers and workshop leaders were the Rev. Richard Leggett of Vancouver School Theology, the Rev. Paul Gehrs, assistant to the National Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Rev. Barbara Bishop, head of the North American Association for the Deaconate.

Workshop topics were on liturgy, green parishes, self care, spiritual practice, and recruiting for the deaconate. The group of about 50 deacons re-elected the Ven. John Struthers to a second term as president of the association. Struthers is Director of Deacons in the Diocese of New Westminster. On Sunday they attended Eucharist at Christ Church Cathedral, gathering around Dean Peter Elliott at the altar as he celebrated.
