The annual Clergy Retreat for the Diocese of New Westminster took place again at UBC’s Loon Lake Research and Education Centre near Maple Ridge, October 21st-23rd.

The scheduled facilitator for the retreat, Bishop Tom Shaw SSJE had to cancel at the last minute due to failing health and on very short notice, the Very Reverend Peter Elliott contacted Bishop Jim Cruickshank retired Bishop of the former Diocese of Cariboo and asked if he would be the retreat facilitator for the 2013 event. Bishop Jim agreed.

According to retreat participant, the Reverend Gail Newell, Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Hope:“The retreat was wonderfully refreshing. Jim had invited us into a Sabbath of solitude with God and gave us wonderful reflections on the first three chapters of the letter to the Ephesians to ponder as we spent our days in outward silence and inward prayer. Loon Lake gave us reflections to feast our eyes and souls with the beauty of God’s creation.”
