Earth Hour is a worldwide event and collective effort to address the important issue of climate change. Millions around the world, including over 100 cities across Canada, will turn off their lights in a show of support to promote action on climate change.
The Earth Hour program has been encouraged and promoted in recent years by the Diocesan Greening Spirit Team in conjunction and communication with parish Environmental Stewards.
This year the tower which houses the Diocese of New Westminster Synod Office is participating
Oxford Properties Group will be turning off the lights at buildings in Toronto, Mississauga, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary to participate in the event. Emergency lighting will remain on during the hour and security systems and elevators will also remain in operation to ensure an acceptable level of safety and convenience. Oxford is asking all tenants to join in this initiative and help by turning off all office task lighting before leaving for the day on Friday, March 26th.
