On Sunday, September 24, the 17th Sunday After Pentecost, the Celebration of the Eucharist at the diocesan cathedral focused on Reconciliation in advance of Orange Shirt Day, the Canadian National Day of Truth and Reconciliation observed on September 30.

The celebrant was the Cathedral’s Abbess for Spiritual Care, the Reverend Melanie Calabrigo. The preacher was the Rev. Canon Martin Brokenleg who had presented a workshop/conversation event “Exploring Indigenous Perspectives in Liturgy” the Saturday afternoon before to an enthusiastic crowd.  A prominent participant in this liturgy was SLEX’LEX TCETS’ NUW enx’ (Spirit Elk Woman) Erica Lucille ‘Rikki’ Kooy, ODNW.

Many thanks to Jane Dittrich, ODNW for submitting the photographs and cutlines to diocesan communications.
