In January 2023, the Yale clericus (ordained leaders with appointments in the parishes of the Yale deanery) met for their monthly meeting. Many thanks to the Reverend Lorie Martin, now Priest-in-Charge of St. Thomas, Chilliwack for sending in to diocesan comms these two photos. We don't always get content "hot off the press", however, there's a lot to be said for slow and steady.
The Reverend Al Doerksen and the Venerable Al Carson are seen here at their last clericus meeting as ordained leaders of St. Matthew, Abbotsford/St. Thomas, Chilliwack and St. John the Baptist, Sardis. Many thanks to the Reverend Paul Bowie, Rector of All Saints, Mission who brought two farewell cards for the departing priests. In the anchor photo for this post we see the two priests signing the farewell cards to each other.
Archdeacon Carson retired from full time ministry on January 31, 2023 and the Rev. Doerksen begins his next ministry appointment March 15, 2023, as Rector of St. Philip, Oak Bay in the Diocese of British Columbia.
They will be missed by their parishes and by all in the Diocese of New Westminster.
