About the Diocese of New Westminster
The Diocese is the encompassing body for the Anglican churches across the Lower Mainland. It is dedicated to serving the spiritual and missional needs of its diverse parishes and members. Committed to ardent worship, congregational vitality, and the pursuit of justice, including climate justice, indigenous justice, and community engagement, the diocese is seeking a Business Administrator to manage the Real Property and Financial Assets of the Diocese of New Westminster.

 

Position Summary
The Business Administrator is a new position within the structure of the Diocese of New Westminster replacing the Director of Finance. This Senior Management (Director-level) role will be responsible for the stewardship and optimization of the Diocese’s physical and financial assets. With oversight of approximately 70 properties across the Lower Mainland and leadership of the Finance department, the Business Administrator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term sustainability and operational excellence of the Diocese.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in property management, financial oversight, or asset administration at a senior level.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong financial acumen; CPA designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and navigate stakeholder relationships.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in the area of accounting and Microsoft 365 are essential.
  • Familiarity with non-profit, faith-based, or public sector environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the structure, functions, and values of the Anglican Church of Canada and an appreciation of parish life is a significant asset.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Working conditions and Hours of Work

  • Standard office conditions are the norm.
  • This position is primarily on-site with the option of Fridays remote.
  • Office includes standard work station and equipment supplied including telephone, computer (in office), internet, photocopier, software.
  • Standard Office Hours are the norm: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

Physical requirements

  • Standard office conditions: long hours sitting and using computers/other office equipment. Light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.

Ways of Working or Working Standards

  • The Business Administrator is required to remain current on Criminal Records Check – Vulnerable Sector, as well as Diocesan Dismantling Racism Training and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training.
  • Collaborative team environment working with Synod Office staff, Parish staff, clergy, and lay leaders.
  • This position is often privy to sensitive material. Absolute discretion, adherence to privacy rules and confidentiality are working standards.
  • This position reports to the Archbishop via the Executive Archdeacon.
