Christian Education is a key building block for lifelong faith. The Director of Children’s Formation is responsible for the spiritual development, faith formation, religious education, catechesis, nurturing, discipleship, and training of St. Cuthbert’s children on behalf of the Parish • Mission: Facilitate Christian Education for children, fostering lifelong faith and community growth as outlined in the Parish Mission Statement.
• Key Responsibilities:
1. Summer Day Camp Coordination: Plan curriculum, manage logistics, recruit and train staff, and oversee volunteers.
2. Discipleship Mentoring: Identify candidates for Confirmation, design catechesis classes, and mentor children through a Second Formation Program.
3. Leading Others: Support and train volunteer teachers, monitor class attendance, manage Nursery staffing, and coordinate the Christmas Pageant.
4. Curriculum Coordination: Provide effective programs, order materials, assess curriculum effectiveness, and maintain organization of resources.
5. Collaboration Coordination: Work with committees on measurable outcomes, communicate with families, report to the Rector and Parish Council, and facilitate the involvement of Church School in worship.
6. Communication: Regular updates to families, staff meetings for planning, and monthly one-on-one meetings with the Rector.
• Other Requirements:
o Annual Report: Present activities and outcomes to the Annual Vestry. o Submission of a current Police Record check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
o Taking Safe Church Courses provided by the Diocese of New Westminster, which also includes Anti-Racism Training.
o Have Basic First Aid/CPR Training paid for by St. Cuthbert’s.
The position is casual, $28/hour, 885 annual hours broken down as:
1. 50hours for Day Camp,
2. 50hours for Catechism,
3. 50hours for the Second Formation Program,
4. 735hours General over 49weeks @ 15hrs per week
The Director of Children's Formation is a part-time position for 15 hours/week.
