Sunday, July 1st, 2012, Canada Day, the Celebration of the Eucharist was scheduled to take place on the church grounds (Church on the Grass)
of St. Thomas, Chilliwack, however the unseasonably cool and damp
weather meant that worship was celebrated in the sanctuary as per
usual. This was also the last Sunday before the July 7th scheduled
departure of the St. Thomas Youth Group to Nairobi leave for Nairobi,
via London, England.
The Youth Group was blessed by Bishop Michael during his visit to St. Thomas, June 17th. On July 1st, St, Thomas' deacon, Rev. Jennifer Burgoyne present a graduation gift to Youth Group member Katherine Skittrell on her graduation from high school followed by another presentation from Jennifer and St. Thomas' Rector, Rev. John Sovereign of bright orange hats inscribed with St. Thomas Anglican Church, Chilliwack.
