 This year at Diocesan Synod, “Moving Forward in Mission,” Bishop Michael will welcome two guests; former head of The Episcopal Church Stewardship Office, Terry Parsons and the Bishop of the BC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, the Rev. Dr. Greg Mohr.
Bishop Greg will preach at the Opening of Synod Eucharist, Friday May 27th at 7pm and Terry will facilitate an interactive presentation, Saturday morning, May 28th.
Terry Parsons has worked as a magazine editor, marketing consultant to small businesses, director of development for a not-for-profit agency, and developed a training program for women executives. She was a founding board member of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS) and served on the board until 2008. She conducted feasibility studies and served as counsel for capital campaigns in one diocese and several congregations before becoming the Stewardship Officer for the Episcopal Church (1996 – 2008).
She has taught as a guest lecturer at Luther Seminary in Minneapolis, and taught three terms as an adjunct professor at The General Theological Seminary in New York where she received a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies in May, 2010. Since then she has been busy continuing her stewardship work in a variety of dioceses and congregations, most recently leading a conference for the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe and a gathering of Church of England Congregations in Switzerland. Bishop Greg Mohr was elected as the Bishop of the British Columbia Synod on May 14, 2010 and was ordained Bishop July 5th, 2010. Bishop Greg took office, August 1, 2010. Among many achievements Bishop Greg is an excellent singer and is a member of Vancouver’s premier male voice choir, Chor Leoni.
