Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife Heather of 60 years and their three children David (Graeme), Signy and Erik (Anna). Survived by his brother Richard (Gail) and their children Kathy, Bruce and Susie. Bill practiced law at Pitblado Hoskins, Winnipeg and then at Owen Bird, Vancouver over 58 years at the Bar, appointed Queen's Counsel in 1984.

A generous contributor to West Vancouver and to the Greater Vancouver community, Bill was Hon. Colonel of the BC Regiment, Chair of the BC Cancer Agency and Dance Centre, Registrar of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster and Commodore of the Burrard Yacht Club. He read voraciously, had a great sense of humour, loved skiing, cycling and to be at sea aboard Serena.

His Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral Vancouver: March 16 at 4pm. Donations in his memory are welcome to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Bill was appointed Registrar of the Diocese of New Westminster by Archbishop David Somerville October 10, 1975 and was in that position consistently until November 1, 1987. For 12 years he held this vital role which is related to the licensing of clergy and lay people as well as being in leadership on Diocesan Council and at the annual Synods. In an email to Bill's son David, Bishop John wrote:

"We are very grateful for your father’s service to the diocese. We cannot function as a diocese without the generous gift of time and ability by people such as your father.  His expertise was appreciated and valuable to the life of the Diocese of New Westminster."
