Bishop Michael Ingham spoke to the youth delegates to Diocesan Synod, as he does each year.(Julie Ferguson photo)

On Saturday the youth headed over to a building on the Capilano College campus to lunch with the Bishop. The delegates between the ages of 15 and 28, along with the 2007 Taizé pilgrims sat in a circle made by tables and ate pizza and drank pop.

They introduced themselves by name and parish and whether they were a current or previous Taizé pilgrim. The current pilgrims shared with the group what they hope to find on the pilgrimage. Past pilgrims shared a piece of advice.

Alex Starr and Louise Cooper encouraged people to attend the BCYAYM fall conference in October. A discussion struck up surrounding the position of a youth coordinator and what youth could do to have more of a connection with youth in other parishes.

The bishop encouraged the youth delegates to speak up and share their opinions. He noted that only one youth delegate had gone to a microphone at Synod so far. It was always great to hear and see the youth of the diocese, he said.
