Hannah Grier Coome - February 9

Founder of the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine, 1921 — Commemoration

The Sisterhood of St. John the Divine is an order of Anglican nuns founded in Canada in 1884, and dedicated (as its Rule states) to “personal sanctification and active charity.” On February 9 we remember Hannah Grier Coome, who was its founder and first Mother Superior.

Lyrical greeting welcomed Lunar New Year at St. David’s

Lyrical greeting welcomed Lunar New Year at St. David’s

A pop-up choir of five songsters, aged six-to-nine, set the pace for a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration at St. David’s during recent widespread 16-day festival.

Parishioner Art Yu brought the youngsters together for the Sunday luncheon event and, accompanied with music from his iPhone, ‘Gong xi gong xi ni ya’ (Greeting to you, Greeting to you) got rapt attention and enthusiastic applause.

The Saucer

The Saucer

Herbert O'Driscoll

The longer I move around this four-score years and whatever which I am allotted, the more I appreciate the odd little episode that can, if you wish, be dismissed as crazy and childish. But I would bet a great deal that you have such moments too, if you wanted to admit them.

I like a cup of tea, especially a good cup of tea, preferably with a little milk and, although I feel more and more guilty about it, a little sugar.

Freedom Sunday, February 19, 2022

Freedom Sunday, February 19, 2022

In the Anglican Church of Canada, Freedom Sunday shines light on the connections between human trafficking, labour exploitation, and missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ persons. Everywhere, people of faith express compassion and solidarity with trafficked peoples through prayer, bible study and worship, and by making commitments to tackle these dehumanizing crimes.

Here is a link to all the information about, and resources for, Freedom Sunday on the Anglican Church of Canada's website
