“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10-10bSummary of the 122nd Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster – May 12 and 13, 2023 Following the 9am Opening Eucharist, the front 30% of the ballroom at the Italian Cultural Centre in East Vancouver was reconfigured by ICC and Synod staff to make the space more conducive to a two-day meeting. The completion of the set change indicated that it was time to begin the Constitution of Synod. Prior to the business of the diocese getting underway, Bishop John Stephens greeted the Delegates to Synod (they wouldn’t be Members of Synod until the Quorum was certified and that certification - Moved, Seconded and then voted on) and said,
This was met by enthusiastic applause.

International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia - May 17A message and linked resources from Sydney Brouillard-Coyle of Rainbow Allyship May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia – an opportunity to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by those in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Around the world, including North America, we have seen increasing levels of hatred directed towards transgender and queer people. It is more important than ever for individuals and organizations to take a stand, to create safer spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and to commit to the important work of allyship.

A Reflection on the Coronation of Charles IIIAn Anglican perspective by Stephen Rowe Like some of you, I imagine, we watched some of the Coronation of King Charles on Saturday, May 6, 2023. As perhaps expected, the weather wasn’t good, rather wet, the thing no one can control. When the Queen died last September we knew this occasion would come, the fortieth time Westminster Abbey has been used for the crowning of the British monarch since 1066.

ACW Place in need of a new homeCurrent lease expires May 31, 2023 The Board of the diocesan Anglican Church Women are thankful to the many people who've worked diligently over the years to help the diocesan ACW thrive in God's service. With the smart initiatives of those before us, and the sale of the W.A. Memorial House in Vancouver, we have the means to flourish for generations to come. Sadly, we've hit a snag. Our currently leased warehouse in Burnaby will have a significant increase in rent at the end of the lease on May 31. “THEY THAT GO DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS"Herbert O'Driscoll Here we are back in those long ago revolutionary and now romantic 1970s. It’s morning in the city, the silence of early Sunday morning hours. It’s about 8:45 and I have just come away from Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver's altar after the early morning Eucharist. I take off the vestments, pick up a Bible and a prayer book and stole and get into the car. Down towards the harbour, east along dockside streets, left across the railway tracks, and I arrived.
