Diocese of New Westminster Online Christian Formation Course

  • Can we question our faith?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Does God answer prayer?
  • How do I read the Bible?
  • Why is there suffering?
  • How should we live?

After a successful pilot of this course last summer, Transforming Questions returned in January 2021. The next offering will be announced soon. The pandemic has stirred up basic questions about life, faith, purpose, and God. In 11 sessions, we seek to move deeper by engaging in some of faith’s most basic questions. Let's gather for prayer, hear a presentation, and then join in small-group discussion. Through listening and sharing, we will wrestle with these foundational questions in each other's company. As we do so, we will learn more about ourselves, one another, and the Jesus we are seeking.

Do you want to offer Transforming Questions in your own parish, deanery, diocese? You are welcome to view and download the The Facilitator's Guide and The Participant's Guide below which have everything you need to put on the course including online and on site options.

Program Info: Transforming Questions is a curriculum developed by Forward Movement,  a ministry of the Episcopal Church, that has been adapted with permission for the Diocese of New Westminster. The original program is available from Forward Movement at www.forwardmovement.org and was developed with generous support by the Episcopal Church’s Constable Fund. The original program is © 2015 Forward Movement, while changes are the property of the Diocese of New Westminster.

Teachers and small group facilitators for the online program come from throughout the diocese. Participants receive a guide for each session with an outline, discussion questions, room for notes, and suggestions for further exploration. The content of the course represents a broad and moderate representation of Anglican faith, practice, and theology. Sessions draw on scripture, tradition, and reason and encourage open-ended discussion. The guides for the program can be downloaded here: The Facilitator's Guide and The Participant's Guide.
