Lent begins February 18th this year. Below are some resources to help individuals and communities to walk the way of this season. They all have an Anglican connection, they are all available online for purchase at a reasonable cost, and come in downloadable and printable formats.
Tell Me Something Good: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News
This resource is a bundle of resources that parishes can choose from to guide their Lent. Sanctified Art uses biblical commentary, art, poetry, sermon aids, and even music to offer a cohesive approach to the season. This year, they are focused on the core of Jesus' ministry: "radical welcome, love for neighbour, care for the vulnerable, nourishment for the hungry, nonviolence in the face of injustice." Life Stories: A 40 day devotional on Madeleine L'Engle's A Circle of Quiet
Beloved Anglican writer Madeleine L'Engle's writings form the core of this Lenten booklet. The texts are selected from her spiritual autobiography A Circle of Quiet. The writing is solid, attentive to nature, and it's paired with scripture and discussion questions that small groups can use. There are also simple spiritual practices and journal prompts suggested as well. Find it here: https://www.saltproject.org/life-stories
Cultivating Healing and Wholeness in Heart, Soul, Strength, and Mind
A free (!) downloadable booklet with daily reflections on the theme of holistic healing and wholeness paired with the lectionary readings. The publishers, Living Compass, are rooted in the Anglican tradition and offer resources that go beyond the commercial and self-centred aspects of the wellness industry. The booklet comes with a faciltator guide to help with forming small groups or even planning a Lenten retreat day. Alongside Hope: Taking the Wild Paths of Peace
Alongside Hope invited Martha Jarvis, the Anglican Communion’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, to write daily reflections on peacemaking. The information page says, "Throughout it all, she’s seen nothing that compares to the power of people coming back together after conflict, and ultimately, coming back to faith through Jesus." The reflections will be available as a booklet or an email. The content will be available on January 18th. Parishes could combine this with a renewed focus on Alongside Hope, get inspired and fundraise for this Canadian Anglican agency during Lent. See more here: https://alongsidehope.org/lent2026/
