Saturday, July 20th, 2013, was arguably one of the nicest days of the summer of 2013, weather-wise, however that did not discourage a good-sized group of folks from attending an afternoon All Ages Dance Workshop in the bright and cheerful Parish Hall of St. Matthias and St. Luke, Oakridge.

The two workshop leaders, Julie Tomaino and Aaron Lau are accomplished dancers, performers, instructors and directors.
Aaron Lau is a mainstay of the Vancouver musical theatre scene with extensive experience instructing and inspiring young performers at various Lower Mainland dance and performing art’s schools.
Julie Tomaino, a well-known dancer and choreographer, spend 13 years living and working in New York City most notably as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall from 2005-2010. Julie has an impressive resume of performance and teaching credentials. She is currently on the faculty of Capilano University, North Vancouver and Harbour Dance Centre, Vancouver.

The Reverend Vivian Lam and the Parish of St. Matthias and St. Luke got to know Aaron and Julie when Aaron’s theatre group, Intimate Theatre Productions rehearsed a production at St. Matthias and St. Luke earlier in the year. Julie was the director for that particular production and in gratitude for the rehearsal space they asked if there was anything they could do to support the ministry of St. Matthias and St. Luke; the July 20th Workshop was the result of that discussion.
