Archdeacon Philippa Segrave-Pride has been appointed Assistant to the Rector (Pastoral Care and Liturgy) at Christ Church Cathedral effective New Year's Day. The appointment remains in effect until June 30, 2019. This is a part-time post.

As we have reported previously on the diocesan website and in Topic, Diocesan Council appointed the Reverend David Edgerton, rector of St. George, Maple Ridge  as the new chair of the Standing Committee of Mission and Ministry Development. David succeeds Kim Hodge, ODNW who completed her term.

The Reverend Charles Walters, priest, died suddenly on Sunday, December 30 at his home in North Vancouver. He was in his 91st year. A Memorial Service will be held at St Martin's, North Vancouver on Saturday, January 12 at 2pm. Clergy are invited to vest and process. The Reverend Dr. Lynne McNaughton, rector of St. Clement's, Lynn Valley is a candidate in the Episcopal Election for the Diocese of Kootenay to be held in Kelowna, January 19, 2019. Archbishop Skelton in her role as Metropolitan of the Eccliastical Province of BC/Yukon will chair the Electoral Synod. Please keep Rev. McNaughton and Archbishop Skelton in your prayers.

Archbishop Skelton will be making a visit to our Companion Diocese of Northern Philippines departing February 17. We know first-hand that EDNP is growing with many new missions and preaching stations. We can assist them in providing resources.

The Companion Diocese Committee is asking you to have a look for any items (religious hardware, vestments, linens, etc) in good condition that we might send with the Archbishop to be used by missions in EDNP. Please bring any items to the Synod Office no later than Monday, February 11 so that they can be securely packed for transport.

The Archbishop has appointed the Reverend Philip Cochrane, FRSA as the next Rector of St Paul, Vancouver, effective March 1, 2019. Philip comes to us from the Diocese of Oxford in the Church of England. His induction will be on Monday, March 4 at 7pm -- just in advance of Lent. The liturgical colour will be green.
