It is with deep sorrow that John's parents announce the passing of their son:
John was always generous with his heart and his time, and he has left an indelible mark on the people who were blessed to know and love him. John used technology to bridge the distance between himself and those he loved. He started online book clubs with his nieces, choosing audiobooks he knew they would enjoy, so that they could listen together and then discuss. He regularly arranged long-distance movie nights with his cousins, played online scrabble with friends daily, and spent countless hours playing online games with his nieces when they were homesick. In a visit with John, whether in person or remote, you always knew you were getting his full, undivided attention. John stayed connected to his friends, checking in regularly, no matter where in the world they were. He knew who was getting married, who had just had a new baby and who was starting a new job.
John also cared about his community. During COVID, he made a point of calling and checking in with church parishioners as well as those whom he had met while volunteering at the West Vancouver Senior Centre. He was generous with time at the senior centre and at his church and found ways to continue his support remotely when attending in person became a challenge. John’s contributions to his church and to the community at large were many, and last year he was honoured with the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster.
John had many accomplishments in his young life, but his ability to connect and bring people together will be his greatest legacy.
John is survived by his parents Fiona and Luigi, and by his many brothers and sisters; Carlo (Kelly), Giuliana (Andrew), Marco, Alan, Emily (Gabriel), Mark, Luke, Kenny, Vincent, Matthew, and Trisha. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved nieces; Charlotte, Harvey, Ruth, Hazel, Grace, and Maia. He will be missed by his grandparents, his aunties and uncles and his many cousins.
John gave his heart freely, and we will carry that with us as we learn to live our lives with him in a new way.
A Celebration of John’s life will take place at St. Francis-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, West Vancouver on November 15, 2025 @ 11am.
