St.David's, Tsawwassen, is holding its Annual Big Lunch on June 7. The Annual Big Lunch started at St. David's in 2012 as part of a movement in the Commonwealth to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee and overcome the isolation many experience today.
St. David's Big Lunch block-party-style gathering is open to parishioners, friends and neighbours to share a meal together and rejoice in the many blessings that make our community and our country so vibrant.
Entertainment includes the skirl of pipe-major George Panagiotou’s bagpipes to kick off the event and includes tributes, greetings and a sing-a-long led by parish musician Allan Desnoyers.
At a time when divisions in society are heightened, it is heartening to see that the Big Lunch continues to break down barriers and be inclusive and welcoming to all. In the words attributed to Irish poet William Yeats: “a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet”.
The menu includes barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs, salads, desserts, and celebratory cake.
