The bishop has licensed the Reverend Christine Wilson formerly of St. Faith’s as a deacon at St Mary, Kerrisdale as of  February 7, 2021.

The Reverend Pat Ratcliffe has been licensed as deacon at St Catherine of Alexandria and St Laurence, Coquitlam effective April 14.

The Reverend Alecia Greenfield was appointed Vicar of Church of the Holy Cross, Vancouver effective May 1, She succeeds the Reverend Lucy Price who completed her ministry April 25. Alecia will continue as the Curate of St Francis-in-the-Wood (40% time) in May and June.

Bishop Stephens has appointed the Reverend Ken Vinal as Rector of St Stephen, West Vancouver effective June 1. Ken is a priest from the Diocese of Central Florida but has been living and licensed in the Diocese of New Westminster for several years. He will succeed Canon Jonathan Lloyd.

After consulting with clergy in the Sea to Sky deanery, Bishop John Stephens having heard a consensus has appointed the rector of St. John's, Squamish, the Reverend Cameron Gutjahr, Regional Dean of Sea to Sky effective May 4, 2021.  The appointment is for a two-year term that is renewable (depending on mutual agreement) from Synod May 15, 2021. Rev Gutjahr succeeds Canon Jonathan LLoyd who completed his ministry in the diocese, May 1, 2021.

Captain (Ret'd) the Reverend Gordon Barrett (Padre Gord), Deacon at All Saints', South Burnaby since 2016, has been honoured with a lifetime appointment as Chaplain to the British Columbia Regiment. An announcement from the regiment will be forthcoming soon and circulated by diocesan communications when available. Captain (Ret'd) Barrett's responsibilities at the parish will change somewhat with this appointment. All Saints is also served by Deacon, the Reverend Leah Skuro. Padre Gord will retire as Regional Dean of South Burnaby/Royal City deanery in the Diocese of New Westminster on May 15, 2021 after serving the maximum of three terms.

The Reverend Gordon Shields, Vicar of St Oswald, Port Kells has resigned that ministry and will re-retire on May 31, 2021. Gordon and Val will return to Winnipeg where they have family. During Gordon’s time here in the Diocese of New Westminster, he was very active as Sunday Supply and also in interim ministry at a number of parishes including, St. George, Maple Ridge and Holy Spirit, Whonnock. Gordon celebrates 50 years of ordained ministry on May 16.
